What to Do and Where to Eat in Patong Beach
Patong Beach is the busiest resort area in Phuket, with the widest choice of restaurants, nightlife, shopping and activities on the island. The beachfront stretches for nearly three kilometres, lined with hotels, tour counters, and beach vendors. Behind the beach, the streets around Bangla Road are where the nightlife concentrates, from open-air bars and live music to clubs that run until late.
For dining, Patong covers every budget and cuisine. Banzaan Fresh Market is a good starting point for local seafood, with a food court upstairs where you choose your fish and have it cooked to order. The streets around Rat-U-Thit 200 Pee Road have Thai, Indian, Italian, and Japanese options within walking distance of each other. At the higher end, the hillside restaurants above Kalim at the north end of the bay serve French and Thai fine dining with sea views. Jungceylon is the main shopping mall, with international brands, a cinema, and more restaurants inside.

Patong is on the central west coast of Phuket. From Phuket Airport, the drive takes about 45 minutes via Route 402 and over the hill on Phra Barami Road. From Phuket Town, it is about 30 minutes west. Kata and Karon are 15 to 20 minutes south along the coast road, and Kamala is 10 minutes north. The Phuket Smart Bus stops in Patong on the west coast route. Parking can be tight along the beach road, but Jungceylon has a large car park.
