Le Meridien is an immense resort on Karon Noi (not Karon Beach), one of Phuket’s most amazing private beaches. It is built in a U shape around one of the largest swimming pools on the island, much needed during the low season when the sea is too rough to swim. Also great for the kids!

The hotel has many facilities: restaurants, bars, an extensive spa, plenty of water activities and a kids club. It is quiet, not within walking distance of any restaurants or bars, but Patong and Kata are just a short tuk-tuk ride away. Prices are affordable for such a fantastic beach with so many facilities. The Boat Avenue shopping village is a trendy neighbourhood with plenty of great shops and restaurants nearby (accessible via a free shuttle). Just next to the hotel is a line of local restaurants and small bamboo bars right on the beach, a great way to spend a holiday between the beach and local Thai restaurants without having to walk much.

It is easy to book a day trip tour to Phang Nga or Phi Phi or take a taxi and see Patong at least once. If you rented a car, you would be able to explore both north and south of Phuket (The north of the island is a lot more beautiful since it has remained more natural). The beach is part of a national park, so plenty of immense trees offer shade when walking around. Perfect for long romantic walks and for exploring the beautiful coastline. Read more

Centara Karon has a unique location at the north end of the beautiful and wide Karon Beach. This immense hotel is a beach resort: you can walk from the pool to the beach without crossing a garden. The beach in this area is superb, and some small restaurants are nearby.

The small town of Karon is within walking distance (1 km via the beach), where you can find plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. The hotel features many facilities, including a beach club and an adult-only swimming pool. Centara Grand Beach Resort is a great balance location/price if you don’t mind large and pink) hotels. Novotel Kamala is surprisingly affordable for such a great location at the north end of Kamala Beach. It may not be a luxury hotel, but it is a great value if you want to be on the beach and close enough to local restaurants and shops. We stayed in the small pool villa, where the pool is above the room, accessible via outdoor stairs.

The swimming pool offers no privacy, but it’s great to enjoy its sea view. The rooftop bar and restaurant were a great place to enjoy a drink at sunset time. The proximity of many small restaurants on the sand and the famous Cafe del Mar Beach Club makes the location even more enjoyable. Read more

Amari Phuket combines the best services found in Patong with excellent facilities and value for money in a very strategic location. It may not have the most fantastic beach, but Patong is just minutes away. Almost all rooms offer sea views, and the hotel has three swimming pools and a great spa.

The hotel’s jetty is an excellent place to snorkel and relax with sunset drinks or dinner. La Gritta Italian Restaurant by the Sea is one of the most romantic restaurants in Phuket. The club suites are the most luxurious rooms with fantastic views of Patong Bay. Read more

This setting is great for enjoying taking Instagram photos that will make all your friends jealous. The pool has a decent size, and the restaurants offer sea views.

This hotel is not for party people; more addressed to couples. The small seaside town of Naithon is nearby, with a few more restaurants to enjoy and famous fruit stalls. While the beach is one of the most beautiful in Phuket, the hotel received mixed reviews regarding the room’s condition.
