Intercontinental Phuket Resort Review

The Intercontinental Phuket Resort is a luxurious hotel situated in Kamala Beach, on the west coast of Phuket Island, overlooking the Andaman Sea. The resort is surrounded by green hills on one side and the bay of Kamala on the other. The resort’s architecture and interiors are inspired by Phuket’s rich cultural heritage, and the rooms, suites and pool villas are designed to offer maximum comfort and privacy.

The resort boasts several dining options, including a beachfront restaurant, a beach bar, and an award-winning restaurant that offers contemporary Thai cuisine. Guests can indulge in a variety of activities, such as yoga, and fitness, or simply relax at the resort’s spa, which offers a range of traditional Thai treatments.

The hotel

Intercontinental Phuket Resort is divided into two distinct wings, one on each side of Kamala’s main road and each with a very different character. The beachfront wing is smaller with a modern look, with a swimming pool, a beach club and a beach restaurant. The design is very contemporary, with multi-storey buildings facing the beach.

The back wing is surprisingly the most visually attractive, with a vast reception and a central alley leading to a magnificent white Thai building in the back that catches everyone’s eyes as soon as they step into the hotel.

The second wing consists of ten large pool-access villas and two multi-storeys buildings on each side of the property. The back wing has two immense pools, a spa, fitness, tennis and a large restaurant where guests mostly enjoy buffet breakfast.

Kamala Beach

Kamala is an immense and beautiful beach on the west coast of Phuket island. Intercontinental Phuket Resort is at the beach’s north end, which is the best part, with soft sand and clear water.

Jaras Restaurant

Jaras Restaurant at Intercontinental Phuket

Jaras is an exclusive restaurant serving superbly presented modern Thai Cuisine near the beach at The Intercontinental Phuket in Kamala Beach. The restaurant is listed in the Michelin Guide, and our dining experience confirmed that the listing is fully justified. The food is delicious, well balanced and beautifully presented. The wine list is extensive, and the sommelier’s recommendation for each wine is clear and spot on.
