A new beach bar on Kamala Beach
Contents
Pine Beach Bar is a recent and beautiful venue set right on the sand of Kamala Beach, and part of the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel. With such a wide strip of soft white sand and a beautiful landscape, the north end of Kamala is an ideal place to spend the afternoon or watch the famous colourful sunsets of Phuket. Have a seat, order one of the many cocktails, a few tapas and enjoy the DJ music as the sun goes down.
On weekends, the atmosphere turns into a beach club with a fire show, live DJ and live saxophone player, so expect louder music and more of a party atmosphere. If you prefer a more quiet and romantic atmosphere, come on a weekday.
What to order
Since Intercontinental is a 5-star resort and the location on the beach is unique, the prices are a bit on the high side. To give you an idea, a local Singha or Chang beer costs 150 baht, a Heineken beer 160 baht and a soft drink such as Coke or Sprite 130 baht and all prices are subject to the 7% government tax and 10% service charge.
If you are hungry, the food is good and not too expensive. We went for a T-Bone steak at 690 baht only, with a grilled caesar salad at 290 baht. Pizzas are also available starting at 290 baht for the classic and to the fancy truffle pizza at 650 baht.
On weekdays, Pine Beach Bar is relatively quiet, and you can still come and get one of the front tables, but on weekends you really should call at least in the morning to book those very demanded prime spots.
