What to Do at Night in Kamala Beach?
Kamala Beach’s nightlife is modest but the beachfront restaurants, bars and beach clubs make it quite unique in Phuket. Visitors can enjoy local cuisine at good prices, sip on exotic cocktails, and groove to diverse music genres. Whether it’s a laid-back beachside evening or a lively dance party, Kamala Beach offers something for everyone. For those who prefer something more spectacular, there are two immense theme parks called Phuket Fantasea and Carnival Magic with stage performances. On the road away from the beach, there are still a few old-school beer bars where travellers can sit with local girls and have a beer with snacks and play a pool game while watching sports on TV.
1. Beachfront Bars
In the middle area of Kamala Beach, you will find a few tiny local bars made of bamboo serving surprisingly good cocktails at a low price, making this one of the best options to end the day sitting with a drink while looking at the sun gently disappearing behind the horizon.

2. Beachfront Restaurants
There are a lot of small restaurants with terraces all along the central part of Kamala Beach, and the many coconut trees lining up the path add a perfect tropical touch to the setting. Most restaurants serve Thai food and a choice of classic Western dishes such as burgers, sandwiches and pizzas. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and prices are very reasonable.
3. Cafe Del Mar
Cafe del Mar is famous enough and won’t need an introduction. The place is often packed in the evening and the narrow sitting makes it quite crowded. Guests can order tapas and drinks. Cafe del Mar is a party place with a live DJ and pool events, with loud music that will address a younger crowd.
4. Carnival Magic
Carnival Magic is a brand new 40-acre nighttime Thai carnival theme park, known as the Magical Kingdom of Lights. It features numerous record-breaking attractions that cannot be found anywhere else. Situated on Kamala Beach, Carnival Magic is an iconic destination that no visitor to Phuket should miss.
5. Pine Beach Bar
Pine Beach Bar, just next to Cafe del Mar, offers a more toned-down party style with live music, DJs and fire shows on the beach. Pine Club is part of the exclusive Intercontinental Phuket Hotel, so expect prices to be on the high side.
6. Phuket Fantasea
Phuket Fantasea is both a theme park and a stage performance narrating Thai myths and legends on an immense stage, with modern sound and light effects and a large number of dancers and changing sets. Once very popular among travellers, Fantasea lost a bit of its fame because elephants performing on stage became controversial since the introduction of elephant sanctuaries all over the island.
7. Casa Boho
Casa Boho is a surprising Mexican restaurant with a colourful design and panoramic views of the Andaman Sea from the top floors of the Hyatt Regency Kamala Beach.
8. Vanilla Sky Rooftop
Vanilla Sky is a vast terrace with views at the top of Cape Sienna Hotel, in the south of Kamala Beach.
9. Novotel Kamala Rooftop
Novotel Phuket Kamala is a modest hotel at the north end of Kamala Beach, and while the hotel’s rooftop is not very high, it does offer a great place to end the day with friends.
10. Kamala BeerGarden
Kamala Beergarden is a long-established bar on the main road of Kamala Beach with a cosy old-school atmosphere. The bar, which is also a restaurant, has always been very popular with expats living around and returning travellers who like this part of Phuket.
