Overview
Everything is oversized: the pools (2,000 sqm), the lobby, the restaurant, the spa and even the bedrooms, but the fitness is probably the smallest we have seen so far. The hotel can be very busy, and the staff seems overwhelmed, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait to get attention.
The Rooms
Novotel Phuket Vintage Park Resort offers a choice of five room types: Superior Room (33 sqm), Deluxe Room (38 sqm), Deluxe Pool Access Room (46 sqm), Family Room (45 sqm) and Suites (76 sqm).
The rooms are spacious and well-designed around a Thai theme, with a large bed, a big working station, a small balcony overlooking the swimming pool and a comfortable sitting area near the terrace. The bathroom features a big bath as well as a shower. The mini bar is empty as it is often the case in 4-star hotels nowadays, but there is a 7-11 just across the streets.
Restaurants and Bars
The Square Restaurant
Beyond serving a large breakfast buffet that will please everyone, The Square Restaurant serves all day a good range of Thai, Indian, Asian and international favourite dishes. The restaurant is immense, which allows plenty of space between tables. A few tables are also set outside by the pool. The food is good without being exceptional, and the staff is a bit distracted.
Night Blooming Lounge
Night Blooming Lounge is a cosy bar next to the lobby, perfect to end the day, watch the game and meet with friends around cocktails and drinks. Open from 2 pm to 10.30 pm
The Velvet Pool Bar
A swim-up bar is always a nice addition to a 2,000 sqm swimming pool on a hot day, and in Thailand, the weather is always warm, as well as the pool water! The Velvet Pool Bar is open from 11 am to 7 pm, with a happy hour between 4 and 6 pm.
Facilities
The Spa
The spa is very inviting, and the team is very friendly, speaking good English. There are several treatment room types, depending on what treatment you wish to try: Thai massage (1,090 baht), Balinese massage (1,790 baht), hot stones massage (2,200 baht), aromatherapy, facials (starting 1,190 baht), foot massage (starting 690 baht) and even a runner’s massage focusing on leg muscles (1,190 baht).
The strangest treatment on the menu is in trend with what is happening all over Thailand: The Cannabis Oil Massage! (1,995 baht): improves your mood and helps with stress, anxiety and inflammation.
