A delicious Indian Restaurant near Patong
Tambu is a delicious Indian Restaurant located on the rooftop of Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong, perched on a hill 2 km south of Patong Beach. The restaurant is set in an immense and luxurious tent with a high ceiling and a chandelier, inspired by the tented Palaces in the era of Mughal Emperors’ in India (Tambu means tent in Hindi).
The setting creates a unique exotic atmosphere, overlooking the surrounding green hills and the Andaman Sea beyond. Tambu is a great place to enjoy sunset drinks and a romantic dinner in Phuket.
The team is fantastic, kind and attentive, explaining the setting, the cuisine, the menu and the dishes in a clear and short way, making you feel comfortable from the moment you enter the restaurant. As they walk you to your table, you can see the open kitchen where Iron Chef Saurabh Sachdeva is already in action, crafting intricated and beautifully presented dishes.
We browsed the many dishes on the menu, and as we worried Indian food can be quite rich and filling, the waiter reinsured us that the cuisine was probably different from any Indian food we previously experienced in our past. We placed our order and then enjoyed some creative cocktails with a sunset view.
As the dishes arrived, we were truly surprised at how light and delicate each dish was! The taste and texture were superb and the food was beautifully presented and briefly described. We don’t remember the name of all the dishes, but we probably had 8 courses and while satisfied with our dinner, we did not feel overly full. We could even afford to enjoy dessert, an ice cream speciality skilfully prepared at our table.
As the night went down over Avista Hotel, we thanked the team for this superb and unforgettable dinner and promised ourselves we would return to Tambu soon.
