What to Do and Where to Eat in Phuket Town

Phuket Town has the densest concentration of restaurants, cafes, shops and things to do anywhere on the island. The old streets between Thalang Road and Soi Romanee are where most of the action is: converted shophouses now house coffee shops, galleries, and small boutiques alongside decades-old noodle stalls and local food spots. The surrounding streets add more variety, from Hokkien and southern Thai restaurants to international dining, rooftop bars, and night markets.
Beyond the old quarter, Phuket Town spreads into commercial areas with shopping malls, fresh markets, and everyday services. Central Phuket is nearby for air-conditioned shopping, and the Sunday Walking Street Market on Thalang Road draws big evening crowds. For local food at its best, the streets around the old market area and Phang Nga Road are where Phuket residents eat.

Getting to Phuket Town
Phuket Town sits on the east side of the island. From Patong, the drive takes about 30 minutes over the hill via Phra Barami Road. From Kata and Karon, it is 20 to 25 minutes via Chao Fa West Road. The Phuket Smart Bus runs along the west coast and connects to town. Street parking in the old quarter is limited, so arrive early or park near Robinson Department Store and walk in.
