Great Thai Food in Phuket Town ✓
Chom Chan by One Chun is an excellent Thai restaurant that serves a great selection of Phuket dishes and local specialties. It’s a cosy small house with a garden almost hidden on the outskirts of Phuket Town and can easily be missed when driving by.
Chom Chan received a ‘Bib Gourmand’ rating in the Phuket Michelin Guide. ‘Bib Gourmand’ means ‘friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.’

The atmosphere at Chom Chan is, however, completely different from One Chun. Where One Chun is buzzing with a permanent crowd of tourists (lots of Thai tourists, actually), Chom Chan is more quiet and discreet, addressing local families who know where to find great and spicy Thai food.
What to Order
The food is excellent, and the menu is extensive (but not illustrated at all, unfortunately), so you had better show the staff what you want to order from our page. The dishes served are mostly from Phuket and without compromise. If you are adventurous, try Gaeng Som or Jungle curry, some of the most loved Phuket dishes that taste strong and are so spicy that they can take your breath away.
If you can eat spicy food, this is your chance to sample something local. Of course, all the classic Thai dishes are on the menu, but the point of travelling is to experience local life, and food plays a very big part in Thailand. Overall the experience was very enjoyable, the food delicious and well priced, and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Goong Pad Prik Klua (Salt and Chilli Shrimp)
Goong Pad Prik Klua is a Thai stir-fried dish featuring succulent shrimp (goong) cooked with salt (klua) and chilli (prik). This simple yet flavorful dish combines the natural sweetness of shrimp with a salty-spicy kick, often enhanced with garlic and a touch of lime. It’s a quick, aromatic dish typically served with steamed rice.
Pla Tod Krueng (Fried Fish with Red Curry)
Pla Tod Kreung is a flavorful Thai dish of crispy fried fish topped with a spicy, aromatic red curry paste. It’s seasoned with herbs like kaffir lime leaves and chillies for a fragrant, bold taste.
Moo Hong (Braised Pork)
Moo Hong is a traditional southern Thai dish featuring tender pork belly slow-cooked in a rich, savoury-sweet sauce. Flavoured with garlic, black pepper, soy sauce, and palm sugar, it offers a balance of salty, sweet, and aromatic notes.
Pad Pak Miang Kai Goong Siab (Local Vegetable Leaves with Dried Shrimp)
Pad Pak Miang Kai Goog Siab is a southern Thai stir-fry dish featuring pak miang (Malindjo leaves) and salted egg (kai goog siab). The dish combines the slightly bitter, earthy flavour of pak miang with the rich, creamy, and salty taste of salted egg. Stir-fried with garlic, chillies, and a touch of oyster sauce.
