Rock Hard a Go Go is finally back on the nightlife scene of Patong Beach with a fresh look and a younger mood. In recent years, Rock Hard was slowly fading away, and the atmosphere was not the most entertaining in town, despite being the only Go Go open in the afternoon.
Mang Da looks like oversized, mutated cockroaches, but I can confirm that they’re not. They are called Mang Da Na in Thai, and apparently are the biggest kind of water bug there is. I think the English name is ‘Giant Water Bug’.

China Inn is a lovely little restaurant in the middle of Thalang Road, the historical street of Phuket Town. Everyone who walked down that street admired it, and most even took photos.
Here are a few photos I took when the tsunami hit Phuket on December 26, 2004, and the following weeks. So they won’t vanish from my memory. It’s not a dark memory, and it’s proof of the human capacity for survival and natural optimism, and this event shouldn’t be forgotten.

Promthep Cape, locally called “Laem Promthep”, seems to be an irresistible spot for a good old sunset photo at the very south of Phuket island, not far from Nai Harn Beach on the way to Rawai Beach.
Paradise complex in Patong Beach has been the heart of the Phuket Gay party zone for more than twenty years. I don’t know if the fancy name had any influence on the choice of location, but it’s really easy to find, right at the foot of The Royal Paradise Hotel, a 24-floor tower erected in the middle of it like a lighthouse.
Tam Sua is a tough variation of the well-known Som Tam even though the word Tam Sua practically means ‘salad anything’. The dish looks pretty much like the photo above every time I order it. So what’s inside? Here’s my version of Tam Sua. You’ll find that it’s really similar to a Som Tam… for the brave!
