10 Phuket Viewpoints

Phuket Viewpoints
Phuket has a nice little collection of viewpoints and as it seems in the human nature to be unable to resist the urge of climbing on top of the highest points, here is a list of ten beautiful places to take amazing photos from, enjoy a drink with a sunset, or even have a romantic dinner.

Karon Beach ViewpointKaron Beach Viewpoint

Once known as 'Kata Viewpoint', here is one of the most famous birdview shot of Phuket. You really can see three magnificent bays from up there. The closest and smallest one is Kata Noi Beach, then a bit further is the beautiful bay of Kata with its island 'Koh Poo' which means Crab Island, and in the far, the very long Karon Beach. Radar Hill View Point in PhuketRadar Hill Viewpoint

Phuket has quite a few viewpoints but some less visible than others are actually much nicer. The panorama from the 'Radar Hill' is simply breathtaking. Once you are up there, you will barely see anyone but locals and you'll wonder why. Read more...

Phromthep CapePromthep Cape Viewpoint

Who can resist a good old sunset photo? Certainly not the horde of photo-shooters lining up each evening at Promthep Cape, the southernmost point of Phuket island. This  landmark has always been the meeting point for hundreds of tourists, mostly Thai, to get a fun sunset shot. Huge colorful buses  park in the back and release their load of tourists hungry for a picture and the place starts buzzing with cameras flashing all directions. Read more...

Big Buddha of PhuketPhuket Big Buddha

Big Buddha is visible from anywhere in the southern part of Phuket, but it is not my favourite attraction. It feels a lot more like a tourist attraction than a spiritual place. Now, the view from up there is breathtaking. Once there you'll find out that a wide angle lens would have been a good idea, the top of the hill is not that wide and the Buddha is really massive, so it is not easy to capture it in its entirety. Windmill Viewpoint - Yai Nui Beach

Ya Nui Viewpoint is a very good view point   to bring back a nice tropical photo of Phuket. This place is pretty well known because of the huge white windmill visible from the distance. From Nai Harn Beach and Ya Nui Beach you cannot miss it, the trick is to find where the path leading to it is. Read more...

Khao Rang Hill PhuketKhao Rang Hill Phuket (Kao Rang)

Take a short break in your exploration day to get a glimpse of what  Phuket Town looks like from the top of Khao Rang Hill. All year round, people climb up there to admire bird views of the southern part of the island: Chalong, Panwa and even the Big Buddha sitting on top of its hill. But Khao Rang also feature a nice restaurant called Tunk Ka CafeRead more...

Panwa Viewpoint (Khao Kad Viewpoint)

Solitary standing on top of one of the highest and most remote hill of Phuket, Panwa View Point, also known as 'Khao Kad View Towers' is a bit of a mystery. With a parking designed to accommodate a large amount of buses and cars,  numerous shops and a massive staircase leading to a large tower, you would expect to find a crowd up there... but when you arrive, the solitude of the place is striking. Kata Noi Viewpoint

A great place, easy to find on the way from Kata Beach to Nai Harn Beach, for an easy lunch or dinner. Several bars and restaurants built on the hillside above the beautiful Kata Noi Beach are a great opportunity for a sunset photo.  Read more...

Wassa Homemade Bar

Wassa Homemade Bar located high on the hills in the back of Patong is a modest little bar worth talking about. You can go there anytime of the day but sunset time and beyond is definitely the best... This little hut all made of wood and surrounded by dense greenery has one of the most stunning views on Patong Bay. Read more...

Karon BeachKaron Beach Viewpoint Restaurant

Not obvious to find if you are not aware of its location is a little restaurant bar on the way down between Patong and Karon, just past Centara Karon Villas. The birdview from the terrace covers the entire Karon Bay.
