Where to propose in Phuket?

Phuket is a tropical paradise island with white sand beaches, clear blue waters and swaying coconut trees; what background could be better than an exotic hideaway in a holiday mood to propose to your loved one? Here are some of the many places with a romantic mood to create the right atmosphere for a memorable moment. Some restaurants and bars are casual; some are fancy and luxurious. Any beach in Phuket is actually a good place to propose, but if you are more adventurous, the deserted beaches have a unique charm. We wish you good luck! Baba Nest at Sri Panwa

Baba Nest is a very exclusive rooftop bar located at the very exclusive Sri Panwa hotel on the southeast coast of Phuket. This 360-degree open terrace offers staggering views of Phuket, the nearby island, and Phang Nga Bay’s limestone cliffs. The last time we went there, we had a superb sunset to the west and an immense rainbow of Phang Nga; it definitely puts you in the mood. Just remember that it is difficult to book and drinks are very expensive. Obviously, since it is an open terrace, it might be better to skip it during the rainy season.

Samet Nangshee Viewpoint

You could walk up there for free, but you want to arrive fresh and not want to appear cheap to your loved one! 😉

Freedom Beach

Freedom Beach Phuket

Freedom beach is just next to Patong, but getting there requires effort. Most tourists are not brave enough to walk down then back up the steep slope, and others don’t want to pay for the short boat ride. At this time of Covid, the beach is literally deserted, but it starts to change, and the beach can be a little busy when normal life comes back. This immense and beautiful beach can be all yours to drop the question.

Recommended for: deserted beach atmosphere and romantic setting
Planning: none (has to be in high season)
Budget: small (just a boat ride)

Location: near Paton Beach
Price: longtail boat from Patong: 1,000 baht, but free if you can take the slope, but it’s tough to get back up.

Laem Singh Beach

Laem Singh beach used to be a very popular beach and was also busy until the owner of the land surrounding the beach had enough and closed the access. It then became a deserted beach, and while people could admire it anytime and with envy from the roadside viewpoint, no one could get there. But there are actually two ways to still walk on this beach and propose. Go by boat: take a longtail boat from Kamala or see if the little orange shuttle boat is available from the nearby Surin Beach. Walk along the coast: a path starts at the end of the restaurant, south of the beach (that’s the only restaurant remaining on the beach), the start of the path is quite rocky, but it gets easy soon after. Just go carefully on that rocky part; that is not how you want the day to be remembered!

Recommended for: deserted beach atmosphere and romantic setting
Planning: none
Budget: small (just a boat ride)
: next to Surin Beach
Price: longtail boat from Surin beach, but free if you walk along the coast.

Cape Sienna in Kamala Beach

Romamtic dinner at Cape Sienna

Cape Sienna on Kamala Beach has those lovely little salads surrounded by water, the perfect place to take your loved one. The sun does not set on the ocean, but over the hill near the water, it is still beautiful. The place is called Plum Steakhouse, which doesn’t sound very romantic, but the setting is worth it.

Recommended for: Panoramic ocean view and romantic setting
Planning: Medium (a day or two in advance)
Budget: small
