Bisou Phuket is the island branch of Michelin Guide listed Bisou Bangkok, opened by chef Antoine and sommelier Théo. Both trained in Michelin-starred kitchens in Paris before moving to Thailand. The cooking is modern French with subtle Japanese influences, built on proper technique but lighter and more inventive than traditional French dining. The menu changes with the seasons, and a serious wine list is a big part of the experience. The space is intimate and well designed, making it one of the better restaurants for a romantic dinner in the Bang Tao area. No stiffness, just good food and good wine.

SōL Phuket

SōL Phuket is a new all-day dining spot near Bang Tao Beach, opened in late 2024 by Chef Top Russell. If that name sounds familiar, he’s the Thai chef behind Mia in Bangkok, which has held a Michelin star for three consecutive years. Sol is his hometown project, a return to the island where he grew up.

The Farmer and The Fisherman

The Farmer and The Fisherman is an excellent new restaurant that opened recently at the popular Porto de Phuket shopping village in Bang Tao Beach, just next to Boat Avenue. We stopped for a casual dinner and were pleased with how good the food was, as well as the service, which is an important factor for a great dining experience. The Farmer and The Fisherman is the Phuket branch of ‘Ginger Farm Kitchen’, a very popular restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide. It is originally from Chiang Mai but is also available at Central Phuket.

Project Artisan

Project Artisan is located on a quiet road between Bang Tao and Layan, away from the beach crowds. The concept is simple but works well. It’s a restaurant surrounded by art. Local Thai artists painted the murals you see everywhere, from the entrance sign to the walls inside and throughout the garden.  Old wooden doors and antique furniture are scattered around. Nothing matches, and that’s the point. The restaurants are spread across a large garden with tall trees and stepping-stone paths.

Nanami Yakiniku

Nanami Yakiniku is a Japanese BBQ restaurant run by a Japanese owner. It is located on Boat Avenue in Cherngtalay, near Bang Tao Beach, on the west coast of Phuket. The restaurant serves a wide range of imported and local beef and pork, as well as sushi and sashimi. Nanami Yakikniku is set in a large house near the lake, and the atmosphere is cosy and welcoming, with seating inside and outdoors.

Carpe Diem Beach Club

One of the latest Beach Clubs in Phuket, Carpe Diem on Bang Tao Beach, serves appetising Mediterranean and Italian cuisine with creative cocktails and a long list of fine wines. Because the beach in front of the club is not very wide, people come here for drinks, dinner, and to enjoy great music at the end of their day.

Five Olives Restaurant

Five Olives by Marni is a contemporary Italian restaurant in Bang Tao Beach, located in the Boat Avenue Park and Playground complex, about 700m from the main Boat Avenue. It’s an elegant space with high ceilings and a large outdoor terrace. The menu covers antipasti, pasta, risotto, steaks, and their speciality: Canotto-style Neapolitan pizza with puffy, airy crusts, which earned them a spot in the Top 50 Pizzerias in Asia-Pacific. They also offer an extensive wine list.

The Society by Sansiri

The Society is off Lagoon Road near Bang Tao Beach, a co-working and dining space developed by Sansiri. It’s their first project like this in Phuket. Inside there’s a coffee roaster (BEANS) and a Spanish tapas restaurant (VAMOS), plus meeting rooms and a small gallery. We stopped by for coffee and ended up staying for lunch.
