A Modern Thai Restaurant with a Michelin mention
Suay Cherngtalay is a popular and excellent restaurant serving modern Thai cuisine with a creative touch by chef Noi Tammasak (Suay means beautiful in Thai). The restaurant is very inviting, divided into two areas. The main dining room is a welcoming indoor building with large wooden tables, a cocktail bar, and floor to ceiling glass wall facade. The outdoor sitting area in a garden is lovely, with a more casual atmosphere, with a covered area and another bar. Suay received a Michelin Plate, which is a distinction for excellent food.
Remember that while the outdoor dining area is beautiful and very inviting, it is also the smoking area, and if you are a non-smoker and sit next to a heavy cigar smoker, it might ruin your romantic dinner.
The food served at Suay Restaurant Cherngtalay is a soft modern variation on original Thai recipes. The dishes are beautifully presented, with an enjoyable balance of tastes and textures. The menu is fun to explore, and dinner at Suay is the entire experience is an excellent opportunity for a special dinner at a reasonable price.
The menu is easy to browse, with four signature set menus to choose from, both designed for two persons sharing six dishes: 2,199 baht or premium set at 2,590 baht, which is quite good value, then the bigger versions with 7 or 8 dishes to share among 3 to 4 person at 3,199 baht and 4,699 baht. The best way to enjoy Thai food is to share the dishes!
You can also compose your dinner a la carte. We had a foie gras wrap (450 baht), curry tempura (249 baht), larb tuna (259 baht).
This new Suay restaurant branch is in Cherngtalay, a name that may not be well known to most travellers. In case you are unfamiliar with the Cherngtalay location, it is 5 kilometres east of the well-known Bangtao Beach, where the famous resorts of the Laguna Phuket complex are.
