Where to Stay on Islands near Phuket?
Hotels on islands near Phuket offer something the main island can’t anymore: quiet. Phuket has grown fast over the past 20 years, and the south of the island now has traffic, construction, and crowds that didn’t exist before. If you’ve been to Phuket a few times and want a different experience, staying on a smaller island nearby makes sense.
The islands covered here range from 3 km offshore (Naka Island, Coconut Island) to about 45 km away (Phi Phi). Some are easy day trips from Phuket, others require planning. Prices vary widely, from around 5,000 Baht per night to over 30,000 Baht for top-end villas. The trade-off: you’ll be far from Phuket’s restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. These hotels work best for people who want to stay put and relax, not explore. Here is a list of popular hotels on islands near Phuket.
The Racha

| Location: Racha Island |
The Racha is a 5-star resort on Koh Racha Yai, a small island south of Phuket. The beach here is one of the best in the region, white sand and clear blue water that looks nothing like Patong or Kata. The resort has villas spread across a large garden, some with private pools.
Three restaurants on site. Spa is good. Snorkelling and kayaking are available directly from the beach. One thing to know: day-trippers from Phuket arrive by speedboat and use the beach until late afternoon. After 4 or 5 pm, it empties out and feels private again. If that would bother you, this might not be the right choice. Read more

|---|---|
| The Beach | The beach is fantastic, superb blue water and powedery sand. |
| The Hotel | 5-star resort with private villas, some with pools. |
| The Facilities | 1 swimming pool, 2 restaurants and 2 bars. Fitness and great spa. |
| What's Around? | A few seaside bar and restaurants only but very relaxing. Because Koh Racha is an island, don't expect to go around Phuket Island: you would have to book a daytrip for the Big Buddha and Old Streets of Phuket Town. |
| Who is it for? | Travellers who want an island experience away from the bustle of Phuket. |
| Worth Noticing | The beach can be busy with daytrippers during the day, but it will be all yours after 4 or 5 pm! |
| Price | High because of popularity. Book early in high season (December to April) |

Six Sense Yao Noi

| Location: Koh Yao Noi Island |
Six Senses Yao Noi is on Koh Yao Noi, a green island between Phuket and Krabi. The main draw here isn’t the beach, which is small, but the views. The resort looks out at the limestone cliffs of Phang Nga Bay, the same formations you see on James Bond Island tours.
Villas are large, and most have private pools. The hilltop restaurant has panoramic views of the bay. Spa is one of the better ones in the region. Koh Yao Noi itself is quiet. A few local restaurants, not much else. The island doesn’t have the white sand beaches Phuket is known for, so don’t come expecting that. What it does have is a slower pace and scenery you won’t find elsewhere. Read more

SAii Phi Phi Island Village

| Location: North Phi Phi Island |
SAii Phi Phi Island Village is on the quieter north side of Phi Phi, away from the backpacker bars and noise of Tonsai. The beach is long, and the water is good for swimming. 201 rooms total, mix of bungalows, villas, and suites.
Six places to eat on site. Diving and snorkelling are easy to arrange. The pool is decent-sized. Spa available.
The trade-off with Phi Phi is the journey. Getting there takes about 90 minutes by speedboat or 2 hours by ferry. Once you’re there, you’re committed for a few days. The north end of the island stays calmer than the party zone, but you’ll still hear bass from the beach bars if the wind is right.

The Naka Island is on a small island just off Phuket’s east coast. Transfer from the mainland takes about 10 minutes by boat. The beach is decent, the water calm. Villas have private pools and sea views.
Two restaurants, two pools. The island is small, mostly just the resort and coconut trees. Nothing else to do except stay at the hotel, which is either the point or a problem depending on what you want. Closer to Phuket than most island hotels on this list, so you could theoretically do a day trip back to the mainland. But most guests don’t. Read more

Koyao Island Resort

| Location: Koh Yao Noi Island |
Koyao Island Resort has villas with thatched roofs spread across a coconut grove. The design is open-air, with large sitting areas that look out at the garden and sea. Directly on the beach.
The open concept means limited privacy. Walls don’t fully enclose the living spaces. Some guests love this, others find it uncomfortable. Worth checking photos carefully before booking. Five restaurants and bars. One pool. The beach is usable, but not the main reason to stay here. It’s more about the villa experience. Read more

The views of the limestone cliffs are the main selling point. No beach access. This is a hillside property.
