Cape Kudu Hotel Review
Cape Kudu is a small trendy hotel on the beachfront of Koh Yao Noi, a small natural island between Phuket Island and Krabi. The hotel features 5 room types: Deluxe, Deluxe Seaview, Robinson Crusoe, Pool Villas and the amazing Baan Yu Yen Villa, where we spent a long weekend. This is undoubtedly the most unique and comfortable family holiday we have ever spent in Thailand.

Baan Yu Yen Villa

Baan Yu Yen is an amazing two-bedroom villa with two swimming pools on 1,315 sqm. land, facing the sea and the limestone cliffs of Phang Nga. The large kitchen has a central counter and all the cutlery and cooking equipment you need to cook your meals if you want to enjoy cooking with the local seafood, rice and ingredients so unique in Koh Yao Noi.
The villa faces the ocean, and you can walk to a small beach along your front pool, cross a small peaceful road and walk down a few steps of a short wooden staircase. The white villa with a large bright pool with loungers and umbrellas is beautiful, and almost every traveller who walks on that road between the hotel and the beach will stare at your villa and talk to each other with envy.

Once in a while, hornbills will land on your rooftop or in a nearby tree and start their noisy but fun chit-chat. Hornbills are birds known for their distinctive beaks, often with a large, curved casque on the top. It’s quite a sight, especially for kids who might never have seen such big birds with unusual double beaks.
The Pools
There are two pools in the Baan Yu Yen villa. A very large one on the front and a slightly smaller one on the back. While the villa is great for families, the pools are quite deep for young kids, so keep your eyes on the kids when they dip in the warm water.
h2 class=”hr”>The Restaurants
There are two restaurants at Cape Kudu. Hornbill is the main restaurant, next to the hotel’s main pool, and Cafe Kantary, a beautiful white pavilion set by the roadside and open to outside guests too.
Hornbill Restaurant

Hornbill is Cape Kudu’s main restaurant, set next to the pool with a view across to the sea. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a menu that mixes Thai and international dishes. Breakfast is a highlight, with a good spread of fresh fruit, eggs cooked to order, pastries, and Thai options.
In the evening, the menu shifts to more substantial dishes using local seafood and ingredients from the island. The setting is open-air and relaxed, with tables spaced out around the pool area. During our stay, we ate at Hornbill every evening, and the food was consistently well prepared. On a quiet island like Koh Yao Noi, having a restaurant of this quality inside your hotel makes a real difference.
Cafe Kantary

Cafe Kantary sits across the road from the hotel, facing the sea. It is a small, modern cafe in a clean white pavilion with air conditioning, which makes it a welcome stop when you are exploring the island in the heat. The menu covers coffee, tea, smoothies, and a good selection of freshly baked cakes and pastries. It is open to everyone, not just hotel guests. I stopped here almost every day during our stay. The iced coffee was good, the cakes were fresh, and the staff were friendly. There is nothing else quite like it on Koh Yao Noi, where most cafes are basic local shops.
