We recently discovered Lertrod Kitchen just next to Phuket International Airport, tucked between two shops on the main road. Lertrod Kitchen is almost hard to find from the outside. Being so close to the airport, this modest place is perfect for travellers wanting authentic Southern Thai food before departure. Lertrod Kitchen (เธเธฃเธฑเธงเนเธฅเธดเธจเธฃเธช) is a great example of how great local food can be found in the most unexpected places.

Toh Daeng (which means Red Table) is a beautifully decorated Thai restaurant at Baan Ar Jor House Museum on Mai Khao Beach. The place intelligently combines two rooms in one, allowing families and friends to sit together at very long tables. You can admire how they purposely kept part of the separation brick wall. The result was a bright and welcoming room that kept an antique and charming atmosphere. You can enjoy real Phuket cuisine prepared with family recipes, drinks and cakes. Toh Daeng is listed in the Michelin Guide for Phuket.

Kin Dee
Kin Dee is a long-established Thai restaurant hidden in the quiet northern part of Phuket, not far from Mai Khao Beach. Itโs been around for more than 20 years, run by a local chef who uses ingredients from nearby farms and her own garden. The restaurant is quite charming, surrounded by trees and wooden walkways, with an open-air dining area that feels very local. The food is authentic, rich in southern flavours, and beautifully presented without being fancy. Itโs the kind of place we always recommend if you want real Thai food away from the tourist crowds.

Natural Restaurant Airport is an excellent place serving excellent local Thai cuisine in a good atmosphere. Andaman Grill
Andaman Grill was our choice for the first night and was, without a doubt, the best decision. JW Marriott Phuket Resort feature a lot of restaurants (too many to try them all on a single weekend), but enjoying fresh seafood and Thai food in an open-air restaurant near the sea is hard to beat! The place is beautiful and spacious, the food excellent, and the team attentive and friendly. It was a treat (we paid for our stay, in case you wondered.

Itโs a great spot to spend an afternoon or end the day, especially if you are a lucky guest of one of the luxury resorts built along this superb beach. M Beach Club Phuket is a few meters away from the beach, but it is an excellent hideaway if you want to enjoy sunset cocktails by the sea and a cool DJ music selection. As it is far from the busy beaches of south Phuket, it addresses more travellers staying in the Mai Khao area and, of course, the guests of JW Marriott Phuket Resort.

Cucina at JW Marriott Phuket is a great experience with a great menu and really good taste. The wine list is excellent, with reasonably priced wine by glass that is served at the right temperature. Cucina offers a wide variety of menus from traditional antipasti and homemade pasta to wood fired oven pizza. The restaurant is located on the lobby level of JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa and has a truly stunning setting. Choose your favourites from an extensive a la carte menu.

JW Cafe
JW Cafe is where you will enjoy a copious breakfast with a huge choice at the buffet! It would be hard to describe how many dishes are on display, but you sure will find plenty of Western and Asian dishes for an extravagant start to your day. As a small leaflet warns in your bedroom, try to come before 9 am, as it tends to get really busy after that. There are seats and food for everyone but early is so much better to enjoy peacefully.
