Samet Nangshe
Samet Nangshe Viewpoint is one of the most spectacular viewpoints near Phuket, overlooking Phang Nga Bay from the mainland side. The viewpoint sits on a hilltop in Phang Nga Province, about a 90-minute drive north of Phuket across the bridge.
The view from the top looks out over dozens of limestone karsts scattered across the bay, with the water and sky stretching to the horizon. At sunrise, when the mist sits low over the bay, and the light catches the karsts, the scene is one of the most photogenic in all of Thailand. It has become a very popular spot for photographers.
Getting to the viewpoint requires a drive up a steep road followed by a short hike to the summit. There is a small cafe and a few viewing platforms at different levels. Some visitors stay overnight at a nearby campsite to catch the sunrise without having to leave Phuket in the middle of the night.
The viewpoint is best visited at dawn, but it is also worth seeing during the day when the light is different, and the bay’s colours are more vivid. For the full guide, see Samet Nangshe Viewpoint.
