Italian Restaurant in Bang Tao Beach
Five Olives by Marni is a Michelin Guide-listed Italian restaurant in Bang Tao Beach, which has become the trendiest part of Phuket Island. The restaurant earned its place in the Michelin Guide Thailand 2025 and holds an impressive #27 ranking in the Top 50 Pizzerias Asia-Pacific for three consecutive years (2023, 2024, 2025).
The space is elegant, with a high ceiling and a vast outdoor terrace. It’s situated in a new complex called Boat Avenue Park and Playground, about 700 metres from the bustling Boat Avenue. The location means it’s quieter than you’d expect for this area.
The menu offers a wide selection of Italian specialities: antipasti, pasta, risotto, steak, and a long list of Neapolitan pizzas. Five Olives’ speciality is its Canotto-style pizza, known for its voluminous puffed-up crust with char marks from the wood-fired oven. The Michelin Guide inspectors noted the chef-owner draws superb flavour from that oven, creating airy bases with those signature puffy rims:
Alongside its cuisine, Five Olives offers a wine list focusing on Italian bottles, from bold reds to crisp whites and sparkling wines.
During my visit for a light lunch, I had a cold cut plate with prosciutto, salami Napoli, and cheese (550 Baht), as well as a salad and a sole. The service was efficient and the food was excellent. Their braised seabass with clams is another dish worth trying, light and aromatic according to Michelin’s inspectors. I plan to return for dinner to try more of their pizzas.
The staff is knowledgeable and helpful with wine pairing. Whether it’s a casual lunch or a special dinner, Five Olives delivers consistently good Italian food.
