Hokkien Restaurant in Phuket Town
Go La is a small noodle shop on Kra Road in Phuket Town, away from the tourist streets. I’ve been going for years. It’s been in the same family since the early 1900s, now run by the third generation. They’ve been in the Michelin Guide Thailand for several years, which brought more visitors, but it still feels like a local spot.

The place is tiny. Maybe eight tables. They cook over charcoal, and you can hear the wok from your seat. Gets smoky inside.
What to Order
Go-La Hokkien Fried Noodles

This is what you come for. Yellow Hokkien noodles stir-fried with dark soy sauce, crispy pork, fish cakes, greens, and egg. Comes with pickled shallots and chilli on the side. The noodles have a slight char from the wok. Around 60-80 Baht.
Hokkien Mee Hoon

Same dish but with thin rice vermicelli instead of egg noodles. Lighter, a bit smokier. I usually get the yellow noodles, but some regulars prefer this one.
Hor Mok

Steamed fish curry custard in banana leaves. Phuket style. Soft texture, not too spicy. Good as a side dish.
Moo Satay

Grilled pork skewers with peanut sauce and ajard (cucumber relish). They give you toast for dipping. Standard but done well.
What to Know
The location is hard to find. Kra Road is a small street, and there’s no obvious sign. Use Google Maps, or you’ll drive past it.
The restaurant gets busy at lunch with locals. No English menu last time we went, so point at what other tables are eating or just say “Hokkien mee.” They’ll understand 😀 Note that they close on Mondays.
