The beaches of Phuket

Phuket has more than 40 beaches, which is more than most people imagine for such a small island. But, strangely, travellers tend to stay on a few popular ones: Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala, Nai Harn, Bangtao beach and Mai Khao beach. Some are a little more hidden but still quite busy: Laem Singh (at the time it was open to the public), Paradise and Freedom beaches, Nai Yang and Nai Thon and the small Ya Nui Beach. Then you have the really remote places: Ao Yon, Ao Sane and Banana Beach and Sai Kaew Beach.
