Kata Night Market

The Kata Night Market is a small, informal market in the centre of Kata Beach. It is not as big as the markets in Phuket Town, but it is convenient if you are staying in the Kata area and want to try some local street food without driving across the island.

The market has a mix of food stalls selling grilled meats, seafood, noodles, Thai desserts, and fruit shakes. There are also a few stalls with clothes, souvenirs, and accessories. The food is the main reason to go, and the prices are much lower than those in the sit-down restaurants along the beach road.

The atmosphere is casual and local. It is a small market, so you can walk through the whole thing in 15 minutes, but the food options are varied enough to make a meal of it. It is busiest in the early evening, around 6 to 8 pm.

The market is easy to find, set just off the main road that runs through Kata. It operates most evenings during the high season. For the full guide, see Kata Night Market.

I arrived in Phuket in 1994 and have never left. After travelling through 40+ countries and working with Club Med and Expedia, where I created the Hotels.com Go Guides international travel guide with my team, I launched Phuket 101 in 2011 to share what I've explored, discovered and learned. Everything here comes from personal experience, with my own photography and videos from across Thailand.View Author posts
