About Merlin Beach
Merlin Beach (also known as Tri Trang Beach) is a small bay just south of Patong Beach on Phuket’s west coast. The beach is about 400 metres long, sheltered between two rocky headlands, and backed by the Phuket Marriott Resort.
The beach is open to the public, though most visitors are hotel guests. The sand is soft, and the water is calm during the high season, making it a good swimming spot. The rocks at both ends of the bay are worth exploring at low tide, and snorkelling is decent when the water is clear.
Merlin Beach has a very different feel from Patong, even though it is only a five-minute drive away. There are no beach vendors, no jet skis, and no noise from the road. It is the kind of place where you can spend a quiet afternoon without any distractions.
Access is through the Marriott resort or via a small road that runs down to the beach from the main highway. There are no restaurants directly on the sand, so bring your own drinks or eat at the hotel. For the full guide, see Merlin Beach.
