Tann Terrace Phuket is a new lovely beach bar, restaurant and even boutique hotel with a unique location at the very south end of Karon Beach. What used to be a run-down Thai restaurant with a handful of rooms is now one of the trendiest spots in Phuket. Guests can sit in loungers, day beds, garden tables and chairs or even hammocks spread across an immense wooden terrace right by the beach, in the shade of pandanus and newly planted coconuts trees. The daybeds by the beach are of course the most popular but we had no problem getting a small table by the beach.

The food

With a large menu and such a view, Tann Terrace is actually very enjoyable at any time of the day. Just imagine yourself starting the day in this comfortable setting with one of the many breakfast options available from their bakery, and you get the picture.

It’s not obvious at first, but Tann is mostly an Italian restaurant serving with a good choice of pizzas, plus a few Thai dishes. The bakery is perfect for. The menu is English and well-illustrated, making it easy to trigger your appetite. The service is very friendly and while it can be a little slow at peak hours, the team remains cool and attentive.

Of course, the place gets really busy in the evening, as the sun sets right in front of the restaurants. The selfie frenzy starts and all the customers start posing around with so much passion, it is somehow entertaining. Cocktails, wines, sangria and sparkling wine are served and the mood is good. The list of mocktails, smoothies and cold-pressed juices will please guests preferring not to drink alcohol.

Born in France a long long time ago, I started to travel the world early and never stopped until I settled in Thailand in 1994. Then for the past 27 years, my passion for photography and my natural curiosity has taken me to every corner of Thailand, jumping frequently between Bangkok and Phuket and basically everywhere I could go. I run Phuket101.net and manage large international online travel guides.
