Pullman Phuket Karon Beach Resort is a luxury resort on Karon Beach on the west coast of Phuket Island and was one of the first hotels to be built on the island. The 665 rooms and suites are spread across 75 green acres, surrounded by vast gardens, lagoons and immense palm trees. The hotel is spacious, and with so much green and water everywhere, the atmosphere is very relaxing.

Such a large hotel may not address every traveller but will please those who want their holiday to be worry-free with many outlets, a beautiful beach just across the street and the small town of Karon nearby. Pullman Phuket Karon Beach Resort is a great option to spend a tropical holiday, and a perfect base to explore the south of the island.

The Beach

Of course, the beach is the main reason people travel long distances to spend their holiday in Phuket, and Karon Beach is one of the most beautiful on the island. It is vast and white, and the water is crystal clear during the high season with a beautiful blue colour.

Unlike Patong, Karon’s beach is never crowded, with just a few jet skis and parasailing boats. The loungers only occupy 10% of the beach, which will please those who like them and those who don’t. You will easily find drinks, snacks and beach massage in’ normal’ times.

The rooms and suites

There are 665 rooms and many room types to choose from: Deluxe, Deluxe Garden View, Deluxe Sea View, Deluxe Family Rooms, Junior Suites, Executive Suites. The rooms are distributed into seven buildings, and as we explored, it was evident that the ‘A Building’ was the best because it is the closest to the beach and overlooks the swimming pool.

Of course, the suites are the best, especially those at the top, with a big balcony and an open-air Jacuzzi. However, all the rooms at Pullman Phuket Karon Beach Resort are well designed and very functional, with all the facilities you can expect from a 5-star luxury brand.

The restaurants and bars

There are eight restaurants and bars around the resort. When we visited the hotel, many were closed, and we plan to revisit once they reopen.

• Ocean Beach Club is a pool deck bar and restaurant with views of Karon Beach and perfect sunsets drinks.
• Sails Restaurant serves all-day dining with Mediterranean and Asian menus and a popular Sunday brunch.
• Buon Appetito offers Italian Cuisine, pizzas and pasta by the hotel lagoon.
• Thai Thai Restaurant serves Thai Cuisine and seafood.
• Caffe Cino is a coffee shop serving homemade pastries, sandwiches and salads by the pool.
• Andaman Lounge is a place to enjoy exotic cocktails, snacks, and live music.

Facilities

Pullman Phuket Karon Beach Resort has five swimming pools, a large fitness room, tennis courts, a squash court and even Thai cooking classes. Kids and families will enjoy the big Kids Club.

The spa is welcoming and beautiful, offering various treatments in individual pavilions. A Thai massage or a spa treatment during a holiday is a great way to make the best of your trip to Thailand.

What to do nearby

Apart from the beach, Karon’s small town is just 800 meters away, and a shuttle will take you there every hour. You will find many small restaurants and bars, small shops, and massage, and while there are no nightclubs, there is a bit of nightlife. If you feel like partying for real, Patong Beach nightlife is only 10 km away, and finding a tuk-tuk is very easy. You will find the Dino Park Mini Golf in the south of Karon. During low season, south Karon is a decent spot for surfing.

Don’t miss the Karon Temple Market every Tuesday and Friday from 4 pm to 10 pm. You can find souvenirs, fun t-shirts and light pants, local cosmetics, delicious fruits, and local food!

Kata Beach to the south is also beautiful, with even more restaurants and Surf House artificial wave activities.

What’s Great For Kids

The Kids Playground is supervised with games and crafts organised by the resort. It sits near the children’s pool. Limited detailed information is available about the program structure compared to other properties, but supervision is confirmed.

Five outdoor pools including a shallow kids pool and water slide. The pools are spread across the 75-acre property, giving different areas distinct atmospheres.

Family-friendly suites are positioned near the children’s pool and Kids Playground. Suite guests get access to the Panorama Lounge with sunset views and cocktails.

Direct Karon Beach access. Kata Beach is a 5-minute walk south. Eight restaurants and bars including Sails Restaurant for buffet breakfast and Ocean Beach Club overlooking the Andaman Sea.

Good for: Families wanting a large beachfront resort with extensive grounds and easy access to both Karon and Kata beaches.
