Thailand Boat Festival 2026 is more than just an event — it’s a homecoming. Nearly two decades ago, Boat Lagoon Marina in Phuket was the birthplace of Thailand’s first international marine exhibition. It was here that the country’s marine culture began to shine on the world stage.

Now, after all these years, we return to where it all began — but this time, with a broader vision.

Wat Chalong Fair is Phuket’s biggest annual temple festival, held for about 10 days during the Chinese New Year. The fair features carnival rides, stage shows with Thai country music, firecrackers, and hundreds of food stalls.

Expect crowds, loud music, and a chaotic but fun atmosphere. The temple grounds fill with vendors selling everything from orchids to fried insects. Entry is free. The fair opens in the afternoon but comes alive after dark.

The Heroines Monument Festival occurs annually from March 13-15 at Victory Field in the Thalang district, commemorating the 1785 defence of Phuket against Burmese invaders. Two sisters, Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Sri Soonthorn, originally known as Chan and Mook, led the island’s resistance when no formal military leadership existed. They ingeniously disguised 500 women as soldiers and used tactical deception, including fake reinforcement marches and smouldering coconut husks to simulate musket fire.
