Greek Food With a View Near Phuket Big Buddha
Greek Kitchen is about halfway up the hill to the Big Buddha of Phuket, right on Soi Yot Sane 1 in Wichit. It’s one of those places where the view does half the work. Mediterranean food with Chalong Bay spread out below you. If you’re making the Big Buddha trip, it’s an easy stop for lunch or an early dinner.
Scenic Location with Amazing Views
The restaurant is on Big Buddha Hill, which means you’re looking down at Chalong Bay and the Andaman Sea beyond. The terrace catches the afternoon light well. We’ve stopped here twice, once on the way up and once coming back down around sunset. The second timing worked better. The view at 6 pm when the light’s going golden is worth the visit by itself.
Tables face west, so you get the full coastline view. On clear days, you can even see Cape Panwa in the back. Bring your camera, everyone does 🙂
Authentic Greek Cuisine
The menu covers standard Greek taverna dishes. Souvlaki, moussaka, grilled chicken, spanakopita. We tried the calamari and tzatziki last time. Both were good. The pita bread came warm, and the Greek salad had actual feta. Nothing fancy, but they’re doing it properly.
Weekend brunch adds shakshuka and some phyllo cheese dishes with honey. Haven’t tried those yet. The regular menu has enough options that you’re not going to struggle to find something. Portions are decent for the price, which runs higher than Thai places but that’s expected up here.
They source ingredients from Greece according to the menu. Can’t verify that, but the food tastes right. Better than most Greek places we’ve tried in Phuket.
Dining Experience
The setup is casual. Open-air terrace, wooden tables, Mediterranean blue and white colour scheme. Staff speak decent English and know the menu. Service is quick enough that you’re not waiting around.
Most people come here as part of the Big Buddha visit. Some stop on the way up, others on the way down. Down works better for timing if you want the sunset view. Parking is easy, just pull into the lot out front. Greek Kitchen does what it sets out to do. Greek food in an unusual location with a view that makes the trip worthwhile, even if you’re just stopping for a drink.
