A Selection of the Best Island Hopping Tours in Phuket
Island hopping from Phuket is one of the best ways to see more of Thailand’s Andaman coast in a single day. You’re surrounded by islands here. Phi Phi is 45 minutes by speedboat. The Khai Islands take 20 minutes. Coral Island even less. Phang Nga Bay, with its limestone karsts, sits north of Phuket, and Racha Island lies to the south. Most visitors only have time for one or two day trips, so combining several islands makes sense.
The typical island-hopping tour packs 3 to 4 stops into one day. You might snorkel at one island, eat lunch at another, and swim at a third before heading back. It’s a lot, but that’s the point. Speedboats do most of the work while you sit back and enjoy the views between stops.
Timing matters. The Similan Islands, which have some of the best diving and snorkelling in Thailand, close completely from mid-May to mid-October for the monsoon season. Other islands stay open year-round, though seas get rougher from June to September. Most tours include hotel pickup, lunch, snorkelling gear, and national park fees where applicable.
