Authentic Indian Food and Cocktails in a Phuket Town Shophouse
Bollywood Phuket is an Indian restaurant and bar on the outskirts of Phuket Town, not far from Central Phuket. It sits inside a Sino-Portuguese shophouse, with a small terrace at the front and a colourful dining room inside. The kitchen serves home-style Indian food, from tandoori starters to rich curries and fresh naan. I had dinner here last night, and the food was really good.
Where to Find Bollywood Phuket
You can find Bollywood on the bypass road, on the outskirts of Phuket Town. It sits right next to the O’nya boutique hotel, in a green and white Sino-Portuguese-style building. The big malls on this side of town are all close, including Central Phuket, Big C, and Index Living Mall. It is a short drive from the old town, so it is easy to reach if you are staying in town or passing through.
The Atmosphere
There are two ways to sit here, and they feel quite different. The terrace at the front is open and bright, with potted plants around the tables and the shophouse lit up behind you. Inside is darker and more dramatic, with red velvet curtains, walls full of old framed photos, and a ceiling covered in colourful Indian umbrellas.
I prefer the terrace because it feels brighter and more relaxed. The indoor room is still worth a look for the decoration alone.
What to Order at Bollywood Phuket
The menu is easy to browse, and the dishes are exactly what you want from an Indian kitchen. This is real Indian food, not fancy fusion. Everything was simple, well cooked, and nicely presented.
I started with the tandoori broccoli, which came charred and smoky on a black slate with a little salad and pickled onion. The chicken tikka skewer was tender and full of spice, and the dal makhani was thick, creamy, and rich. With a basket of fresh naan on the side, it made a proper meal.
There is also a full bar with handcrafted cocktails, so you can sit on the terrace with a drink before dinner.
