Coffee Bar near Big Buddha

Thai Gallery and Coffee Bar is a small open-air café and restaurant set on the hillside near the Big Buddha in Chalong. Its entry has an artistic touch, with beautiful carved wooden panels lining the front roof and columns and several paintings hanging in the small gallery just off to the side. Tables are arranged on a wooden platform, offering diners excellent views of the valley and the sea beyond to the west.

While many people stop by just for a coffee, tea, or smoothie to enjoy the view and cool breezes, there’s food on the menu here, too. They offer a mix of Thai dishes and some simple Western fare like burgers and pasta carbonara, reasonably priced in the 100-200 baht range. It’s open all day, but for views, the best time to go is during the late afternoon golden hours and sunset.

To get to the Thai Gallery and Coffee Bar, take a taxi or drive up the Big Buddha Road (Soi Yodsane 1) in Chalong. It’s found on the right side of the road about 600m before reaching the Big Buddha site. Or, if you’re feeling ambitious, you could walk up here, either along Soi Yodsane 1 or by hiking up the path from Kata-Karon! It’s a fine place to stop for refreshments and to take in the views after a sweaty uphill walk.
