Maps of Phuket Town
These maps of Phuket Town cover the main areas and streets we have explored over the years. Unlike the beach areas of Phuket, the town is best discovered on foot, and each street has its own character. The maps below are organised by area, starting with the full city overview and then zooming into the most interesting streets of the Old Town.
Phuket Town is the island’s capital and sits on the east coast, away from the tourist beaches. The Old Town area is compact, roughly a 15-minute walk from end to end, and is where you will find the Sino-Portuguese shophouses, street art, cafes, local restaurants and most of the historic landmarks. The streets run in a loose grid, making it easy to navigate once you know the main roads.
Map of Phuket City
This overview map shows the wider Phuket Town area, including the main landmarks, shopping centres, markets and temples beyond the Old Town. It covers the areas most visitors pass through when arriving from the beaches or the airport, and helps put the Old Town in context within the larger city.
Map of Old Phuket Town
The Old Town is the heart of Phuket Town and the area most worth exploring. This map shows the restored Sino-Portuguese shophouses, cafes, galleries, street art locations and small museums concentrated within a few walkable blocks. The Sunday Walking Street Market takes place here on Thalang Road and is one of the most popular evening events in Phuket.
Map of Thalang Road
Thalang Road is the most photographed street in Phuket Town. The colourful shophouse facades, street art murals and rows of small cafes and souvenir shops draw visitors throughout the day. On Sunday evenings, the road closes to traffic and transforms into the Walking Street Market. This map marks the specific shops, cafes and landmarks along the road.
Map of Dibuk Road
Dibuk Road runs parallel to Thalang Road, one block south. It is quieter than Thalang but has some of the best restaurants in the Old Town, along with well-preserved heritage buildings and a few boutique hotels. Dibuk is where locals tend to eat, and the food here is excellent. If Thalang Road is the one you photograph, Dibuk Road is the one where you sit down for a proper meal.
Map of Phang Nga Road
Phang Nga Road runs perpendicular to Thalang and Dibuk, connecting the Old Town to the newer parts of Phuket City. This street has some of the grandest Sino-Portuguese mansions in Phuket, several of which have been converted into museums and boutique hotels. It also passes by the Phuket Thai Hua Museum and a cluster of Chinese shrines. Phang Nga Road gives you a sense of the wealth that tin mining brought to Phuket in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
