Discover the Reef at Hyatt Regency Phuket’s Marine Center
The Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort in Kamala Bay is now home to a small but interesting Marine Biological Center. Just a short walk from the beach, this new addition is led by marine biologist Marat Khaidarov, who runs hands-on sessions to help people understand and appreciate life under the sea. Kids and adults can take part in activities like learning about jellyfish, how clownfish live in anemones, and what’s happening to the oceans as the water chemistry changes.

Marat’s goal is to help younger generations build a connection with the ocean. He often takes guests on guided beach walks to look at what’s living along the shore and explains how these ecosystems work.
The centre also supports marine charities and opened with a visit from eco-minded guests and partners. The hotel’s General Manager, Chandrashekhar Joshi, said the centre is part of the resort’s effort to care for nature and be more responsible. Just in front of the resort, the house reef is full of life—guests often spot moray eels, butterflyfish and many types of coral while snorkelling or diving.
Key Highlights:
Interactive Education

The centre is only 150 metres from the Sunset Terrace and welcomes all ages. Topics are easy to follow, such as how jellyfish grow, how clownfish and anemones live together, and how the sea is changing. It’s designed to be fun, especially for families and school groups.
House Reef Exploration in Front of the Hotel

The reef at Rayee Beach is home to colourful marine life like porcupinefish and blue coral. It’s a nice spot to snorkel or join a reef tour. It also helps protect the shoreline and supports the local community by attracting visitors.
Focus on Conservation

The centre helps raise awareness about reef protection and shares how reefs play an important role in both nature and tourism. It’s also a chance to support marine life by learning what actions can help preserve it.
Involving the Community
Local involvement is part of the mission. The centre aims to connect visitors and residents by sharing knowledge and encouraging everyone to take part in protecting Phuket’s marine environment.
How to Join

Guests can contact the centre at +66 76 231 234 or email phuhr-mbc@hyatt.com to join activities or ask questions about the reef and programmes.
