Chanalai Flora Resort is a mid-range hotel about 250 metres from Kata Beach. We’ve walked past it many times and stayed once a few years back. It’s not fancy, but it’s in a good spot, and the pools are decent. The building is older, built in 1993, and it shows in places.

Location

Central Kata, 250 metres from the beach. About a 5-minute walk to the sand, though some of it is uphill on the way back. Convenience stores, massage shops, and cafés right outside. Kata Night Market and Dino Park mini-golf nearby.

Karon Beach is a short walk over the hill or a quick tuk-tuk ride. Patong is 10 km away, Phuket Town 14.9 km, airport about 45 km.

The Rooms

144 rooms total. Deluxe rooms are the standard, Executive Club Sea View rooms are bigger with partial ocean views. All have balconies. The furniture is Thai-style, a bit dated but clean. Air conditioning, minibar, safe, WiFi, TV.

The main complaint we saw in reviews: thin walls. You’ll hear neighbours. Also, it’s built on a hillside so there are stairs everywhere. Not great if you have mobility issues or heavy luggage.

The Pools

Two pools. The main one has a swim-up bar and gets busier during the day. The second pool at the back is quieter with a shallow section for kids. If you want peace, go to the back pool. If you want drinks and people, front pool.

Restaurants and Dining

Breakfast buffet with Thai and Western options. Eggs made to order, fried rice, fruit, pastries. Standard hotel breakfast, nothing special, but it fills you up.

For other meals, eat outside. Plenty of Thai restaurants, seafood places, and street food within walking distance. No reason to pay hotel prices.

Who Should Stay Here

Families and couples who want a decent hotel near Kata Beach without paying beachfront prices. Good if you plan to be out most of the day and just need somewhere clean to sleep with a pool.
