International Restaurant in Karon Beach
Two Chefs Karon Beach is a long-running international restaurant on the northern end of Karon Beach, just a short walk from Karon Circle. Founded by two Swedish chefs, Billy and Henrik, the first Two Chefs opened in Kata in 2001. The Karon branch followed a few years later and has been a regular stop for tourists and residents ever since. I have been many times over the years, and the place is always busy, which says a lot.
Location
Two Chefs Karon Beach sits on Patak Road, about 100 metres from Karon Circle. It is just around the corner from the Centara Karon Resort, making it easy to find. The restaurant is a short walk from the northern end of the beach. If you are staying in central Karon, you can get there on foot in a few minutes.
Atmosphere
The vibe at Two Chefs Karon starts relaxed in the early evening and picks up after 9 pm. A Filipino house band plays live music every night, and that is really what keeps people staying long after dinner. The ground floor has indoor and outdoor seating, and there is a second floor with a private room that can be booked for birthdays or group dinners. The place has a bit of a sports pub feel, with screens showing live sports events. It seats around 120 guests, so even on busy nights, there is usually room.
About the Food
The menu is huge. It covers international dishes, Scandinavian specialities, Thai food, Mexican dishes, burgers, steaks, ribs, seafood and more. The kitchen uses a mix of local ingredients and imported products, which is part of what sets Two Chefs apart from typical tourist restaurants. Their BBQ ribs and burgers are popular choices, and the Thai curries are decent, too. Cocktails are well-made, and they keep a good selection of wines at reasonable prices.
Two Chefs Karon also runs weekly promotions. Their Wednesday Surf & Turf Night is a well-known all-you-can-eat deal. The kitchen stays open late, so there is no rush to finish your meal.
