About Koh Khai Islands
The Koh Khai Islands are a group of three tiny islands between Phuket and Phi Phi, about 20 minutes by speedboat from Phuket’s east coast. The three islands are Koh Khai Nok, Koh Khai Nai, and Koh Khai Nui. They are small enough to walk around in a few minutes.
The main attraction is the clear, shallow water and the white sand. Snorkelling close to shore is easy, with colourful fish visible in waist-deep water. The islands are popular as a quick half-day trip from Phuket, often combined with a visit to other nearby islands.
Koh Khai Nok is the most visited of the three, with a small restaurant and basic facilities. Koh Khai Nai is quieter, and Koh Khai Nui is mostly rocks with limited beach access. The islands are very exposed, so conditions depend heavily on the weather and sea state.
Because of their small size, the islands can feel crowded when several tour boats arrive at the same time. Going early in the morning or late in the afternoon gives you a better chance of having the beach to yourself. For the full guide, see Koh Khai Islands.
