Devasom Khao Lak Beach Resort & Villas opened in 2018 on Khuk Khak Beach, one of the least developed stretches of coastline in Khao Lak. A natural freshwater lagoon borders the property to one side and the sea to the other, creating a setting that is genuinely unlike anything in Phuket. The design of Devasom Khao Lak pays homage to the ancient maritime Silk Road civilisations that passed through this part of southern Thailand in the 6th and 7th centuries. Salvaged architectural elements, some centuries old, are incorporated into a building that opened less than ten years ago. The result is layered and unusual. The Rooms

Every room at Devasom Khao Lak faces the sea. That is not a marketing claim; the resort was designed specifically so that no unit has a garden or car park view. Grand Deluxe Rooms start at a spacious size with partial sea views and large private balconies with outdoor daybeds. Junior Suites at 62 sqm step up with a private spa tub on the balcony overlooking the lagoon and sea.

Pool Suites add a private infinity plunge pool and a separate living room. Beachfront Pool Villas go further still, with hardwood decks and direct access to the sand. Two-bedroom options are available for families or groups. The design throughout references dark wood, stone and woven materials from the old Silk Road aesthetic, warm and grounded rather than generic five-star white.

Daily minibar replenishment is complimentary across all room types. Bathrooms are serious: rainfall showers, soaking tubs and, in the villa category, outdoor shower options that open directly onto the pool deck.

Restaurants and Dining

Takola Thai Restaurant is the main dining venue and the more formal of the two. It focuses on southern Thai cuisine using ingredients sourced from local communities in the Takuapa area. Devasom Khao Lak sits on Khuk Khak Beach in Phang Nga Province, roughly 90 km north of Phuket International Airport. The drive takes around an hour and fifteen minutes without traffic. Bang Niang Beach and Khao Lak’s main market area are 4.7 km away. The International Tsunami Museum, which documents the 2004 disaster that reshaped this coastline, is also close by.

Khao Lak is quiet by design. There is no real nightlife. Restaurants thin out significantly beyond the main hotel strip. The lagoon alongside the Devasom Khao Lak adds genuine natural interest that a straight beach setting would not provide.
