Wat Khosit Wiharn (เธงเธฑเธเนเธเธฉเธดเธเธงเธดเธซเธฒเธฃ) is a Buddhist temple located near Phuket Town. The temple grounds encompass approximately 87 rai and are situated near Thep Krasattri Road, adjacent to the Khao To Sae National Forest Reserve (Monkey Hill). Key structures within the temple complex include an ordination hall (ubosot) measuring 8 by 21 meters, constructed in 1963, a sermon hall built in the same year, and 13 monk residences. Notable religious artefacts housed at the temple are a replica of the Buddhaโs footprint, a 1.5-meter-wide brass statue of Phra Sangkachai, and statues of revered monks such as Luang Pho Rot and Phor Than Song. โ
Established in 1902, Wat Khosit Wiharn was founded by Luang Pho Rot, a monk who journeyed from another province and settled at the foot of the mountain. The local community, inspired by his teachings, collaborated to build the temple. Initially named โWat Khok Saengโ due to a prominent Saeng tree in the area, the temple was later renamed to its current title.
It received official recognition for its ordination hall boundaries in 1912. Over the years, the temple has served as a centre for Buddhist education and community activities, reflecting the spiritual dedication of the locals. โ
