About Phuket Sunday Walking Street Market
The Sunday Walking Street Market takes over Thalang Road in the heart of Phuket Old Town every Sunday evening. The road closes to traffic, and vendors set up stalls along both sides of the street, selling food, crafts, clothes, and souvenirs.
The food is the highlight. Local dishes like Hokkien noodles, roti, grilled seafood, and fresh coconut ice cream are all available from different stalls. The variety is wide, and the prices are lower than what you would pay at the beach areas. It is one of the best places in Phuket to try local food in one go.
The market runs along the most photogenic street in Phuket Town, lined with restored Sino-Portuguese shophouses. Walking through in the evening, with the colourful buildings lit up and the street full of people, is one of the more atmospheric experiences on the island.
The market usually opens around 4 pm and runs until about 9 pm. It gets busy by early evening, so arriving early gives you more space to browse. For the full guide, see Phuket Walking Street.
