James Bond Island
James Bond Island (Khao Phing Kan) is one of the most iconic landmarks in Phang Nga Bay, about an hour north of Phuket by boat. The island became famous after appearing in the 1974 James Bond film “The Man with the Golden Gun.” The tall, narrow limestone rock standing in the water next to the main island (called Ko Tapu) is instantly recognisable.
Most visitors reach James Bond Island as part of a Phang Nga Bay day trip from Phuket. Tours typically include a stop at the island for photos, along with kayaking through sea caves, a visit to the floating village of Koh Panyi, and lunch.
The island itself is small. You can walk around the main area in 10 to 15 minutes, passing through a shallow cave and a small beach. Souvenir stalls line the path. The real draw is the view of Ko Tapu from the shore, which is one of the most photographed natural formations in Thailand.
