Where to Stay in Layan Beach?
Hotels in Layan Beach are limited compared to other parts of Phuket. The beach is part of Sirinat National Park, so development has been restricted. Only Anantara has direct beach access. Banyan Tree is at the southern end, where Layan meets Bang Tao Beach. The other hotels are set back from the beach, some by a few hundred metres, others by several kilometres. Layan works for travellers who want quiet. No nightlife, few restaurants outside the hotels, and a beach that stays empty most days. The trade-off: you’ll need a car or taxi to go anywhere else.
| Update: Songkran Festival is on April 13 to 15 this year. If you are planning to visit Phuket in April, book early. Hotels in Patong, Kata, Karon, Kamala, and Bangtao fill up fast during this period, some hotels are already fully booked. |
Kora Beach Resort

Kora is one of the newer hotels on Layan Beach, opened in recent years. With 307 rooms, it’s the largest property in the area. The size means more facilities than the smaller boutique hotels: a kids’ club, a children’s pool, multiple restaurants, and a rooftop bar with sunset views.
Room options include standard rooms, family rooms, and two-bedroom suites for groups. Beachfront location with direct access to the sand. Four dining options on site, so you don’t need to leave the resort for meals, which matters in Layan since there’s not much else around.
Pricing sits in the mid-to-high range, cheaper than Anantara or Banyan Tree, but not budget. Good value for families who want beach access without paying luxury villa prices. The pool area gets busy with kids during school holidays.
One thing to note: as a newer property, service standards are still being established. Reviews mention occasional inconsistencies, though the location and facilities make up for it. Read more

Anantara Layan Phuket Resort

Anantara Layan is the only hotel with direct access to Layan Beach. The property has 30 suites, 46 pool villas, and 15 pool homes spread across a hillside that slopes down to the sand. Rooms start at 56 square metres, larger than most Phuket hotels. The pool villas range from 79 to over 200 square metres.
Two saltwater pools, one for adults and one family-friendly. Three restaurants cover Thai, international, and seafood. The spa is decent, but not the main reason to stay here. The beach is. About 13 km from the airport, around 20 minutes by ca,r depending on traffic. Room rates are high, especially in peak season (December to February). Expect to pay 15,000-30,000 Baht per night for villas. Book well ahead if you want beachfront rooms during Christmas or New Year. The downside: Layan Beach gets day-trippers on weekends, so it’s not completely private. Weekdays are quieter. Read more

Banyan Tree Phuket Resort

Banyan Tree sits at the southern end of Layan Beach, where it meets Bang Tao. Technically part of the Laguna Phuket complex, though it feels separate from the busier Bang Tao hotels. All-villa property with private pools in every unit. The spa has won awards for years and remains one of the better ones in Phuket, though prices match the reputation.
Four restaurants on site: Saffron for Thai food, Watercourt for international dishes over the lagoon, Veya for Asian-Mediterranean, and Banyan Café for casual meals. A golf course is across the road. The beach is about 100 metres from most villas, accessed through the resort grounds.
The property opened in the 1990s. It shows its age in places, though ongoing renovations have kept the villas updated. Pricing is high, similar to Anantara. Expect 20,000+ Baht per night for pool villas.
Good for couples and honeymooners. Less suited for families with young kids, as the villas are spread out and there’s no dedicated kids’ club. Read more

La Green Hotel & Residence

La Green is about 700 metres from Layan Beach, set back in the Cherngtalay residential area. Not beachfront, but they run a free shuttle to the sand. The hotel markets itself as eco-friendly, though in practice it’s a standard mid-range property with some green initiatives.
Mix of hotel rooms and serviced apartments. Some units have kitchenettes, useful for longer stays or families who want to prepare simple meals. Two pools, gym, spa. Kids’ club and children’s pool make it family-friendly. Pricing is more accessible than the beachfront hotels, typically 3,000-6,000 Baht per night, depending on room type and season. The apartments with kitchenettes cost more but offer better value for groups or extended stays.
The location in Cherngtalay puts you near some local restaurants and a few cafés, more dining options than staying right on Layan Beach. Villa Market supermarket is a short drive away for groceries.
Downside: you’re dependent on the shuttle or a taxi to reach the beach. Walking 700 metres in Phuket heat isn’t pleasant.

The Pavilions Phuket

The Pavilions is a hilltop resort with no beach access. The main draw is the view: a 360-degree panorama over Phuket from one of the island’s highest points. All accommodation is villas or suites with private pools. The infinity pools appear to drop off into the valley below.
Two restaurants on site. The rooftop 360° Bar is worth a visit even if you’re not staying here, especially at sunset. Firefly Restaurant handles breakfast and dinner with Thai and international options. About 20 minutes from the airport. Free shuttle to Layan Beach, but the ride takes 10-15 minutes each way. If you want to spend your days on the sand, this hotel doesn’t make sense. If you want privacy, views, and don’t care about the beach, it works well.
Pricing is mid-to-high range for Phuket, around 8,000-15,000 Baht per night for pool villas. Cheaper than Anantara or Banyan Tree but you’re paying for the view, not beach access. Popular for honeymoons and romantic getaways. Not ideal for families or anyone who wants to walk to the beach. Read more

Impress Resort

Impress Resort is the budget option on this list. A 3-star property in Thalang, about 4 km from Layan Beach. Not walkable, you’ll need transport. The hotel targets travellers who want affordable accommodation and don’t mind driving to the beach.
Mix of standard rooms and one-bedroom apartments. Rooms are around 35-40 square metres with basic amenities: air conditioning, TV, mini fridge. Some apartments have kitchenettes. Two pools, one restaurant serving Thai and international food.
The location is closer to the airport (about 10 km) than to any beach. Makes sense as a first-night or last-night stay, or for travellers with a rental car who plan to explore different beaches each day.
Pricing runs 1,500-3,000 Baht per night, significantly cheaper than the beachfront hotels. Clean and functional, but nothing special. Don’t expect resort-style service or facilities. Not recommended if you want a beach holiday experience. Good for budget-conscious travellers who just need a comfortable room and plan to spend their days elsewhere.
