A Hidden Rooftop in Kamala Beach
‘On The Roof’ is a vast, breezy rooftop at the Novotel Phuket Kamala Beach, with plenty of comfortable seating and views of Kamala Beach. The location in the north of Kamala is quiet, and the beach here is one of the prettiest stretches on this side of the island. You can have a drink or eat there, but most people come for the sunset with a cocktail. Don’t miss the happy hour from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, two glasses for the price of one. It’s a bargain.
What to Expect
The rooftop itself is quite large, much bigger than most hotel bars I’ve seen in Phuket. There’s a mix of sofas, chairs, and bar seating, so you can choose your spot depending on the mood. The corner near the edge has the best views over the bay, but it fills up fast around sunset. Get there by 5 pm if you want that spot.
The cocktail menu covers all the usual classics. Mojitos, margaritas, that sort of thing. They also serve food, mostly bar snacks and light meals. Nothing fancy, but enough if you’re hungry. I usually stick to drinks here and eat at one of the restaurants along Kamala Beach Road afterwards.
One thing I appreciate is that they don’t blast loud music. The atmosphere stays relaxed, which suits Kamala’s quieter character. You won’t find the party crowd here like you would at Patong rooftops. There are more couples and families staying at the hotel, plus a few locals who know about the happy hour deal.
