Breakfast, lunch and dinner right on the beach in Kamala
Boat Bar and Restaurant is a long-established venue with a golden location, right by the beautiful beach of Kamala Beach. The beach is immense, with powdery white sand and dozens of immense coconut trees adding the perfect tropical; holiday touch to all your photos.
The clientele is mostly tourists, but they kept the taste authentic, not trying to tone it down like many restaurants in Patong Beach. The menu offers good Thai food plus a wide choice of western dishes too.
The restaurant is open all day, making it a perfect spot to start the day, whether you feel like continental breakfast or Thai breakfast. The open-air terrace facing the blue waters of the Andaman at the front is irresistible, and breakfast because a slow-paced treat, taking the time to enjoy the perfect postcard-line tropical scenery. As often in a restaurant like this, there is no real difference between breakfast and lunch, and it’s up to you to decide when you start calling it lunch.
Later in the day, especially at sunset time, the bartenders show their skills and prepare a vast collection of cocktails for guests to enjoy before dinner.
What to order
We go there often, mostly for breakfast but sometimes for dinner too. PineapplefFried rice is excellent (199 baht) and is always one of the popular dishes, not to mention how many people post photos of it on their Instagram! The Pad Thai is, of course, another all times favourite, and they do it well. Try their som tam (spicy papaya salad) is truly Thai, green curry, chicken cashew nuts, BBQ pork with sticky rice. Since you are in Phuket, you can also enjoy the freshest seafood: big prawns, super fresh squid and large fried fish.
If you feel like some comfort food, they also serve a good choice of pizzas and hamburgers. The perfect way to end your beach day is at Boat Bar, with the sun setting between coconut trees over the beach right in front of you. Holidays don’t get much better!
