ANISE Tapas & Bar is a popular Spanish restaurant at the Boat Avenue Shopping Village entrance in Cherngtalay on the way to Bangtao Beach. The restaurant is beautifully designed and well-located, perfect for meeting friends for a relaxed and casual tapas dinner.
The restaurant is run by a long-time resident who is also very well-known for managing some of the most luxurious hotels in Phuket. The team is well-trained and attentive, and the bartender is skilled.

ANISE is where many locals and expats love to end a hard-working week and celebrate Friday with hearty food and drinks. It is also a perfect way for travellers to end a day on the beach when they want something different from Thai food. The restaurant is extremely popular and has become an instant success; therefore, reservations (in normal times) are strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.
You can sit inside the cosy dining room or outdoors on the terrace near a tiny garden. Wherever you sit, the atmosphere is welcoming, and you understand instantly why so many people choose to enjoy dinner with friends here. We sat alfresco on the inviting white sofas and comfortable chairs. We were instantly caught by the relaxed atmosphere, and the restaurantโs charm set the mood.
As appetisers, we started with a rather large selection of small dishes, as we do with tapas. Order many small plates, accompanied by their excellent sangria, taking our time, having fun talking and laughing the way a tapas dinner should be.
Rollitos de salmon y queso (cream cheese wrapped in smoked salmon with caviar 290 Baht), Plato Iberico (380 Baht), gambas al vino blanco (280 Baht), tostada de Jamon Iberico (280 Baht), gazpacho de Andalucia (chilled tomato soup with blended raw vegetables 180 Baht), Patatas Bravas (fried potatoes with spicy mayonnaise and chilli sauce 160 Baht).
We were getting full but wanted to have a Marisco Paella (with shrimps, mussels and squid 310 Baht) because a good paella is difficult to find in Phuket. As for dessert, we treated ourselves to the recommended Churros (120 Baht) and a delicious Crema Catalana (120 Baht)
The menu is, of course, much longer than this, with so many tapas and other types of Paella that we have already planned a second visit to ANISE.
