BEACHES OF PHUKET
THE PORT Restaurant & Bar
The Port is the main restaurant near the beach, where you will probably enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The venue is bright and very welcoming, surrounded by tall coconut trees
Promthep Beach
Promthep Beach is tiny, almost impossible to access and therefore not well known; we don’t even know if it has a name, so we call it Promthep Beach because it hides on one side of the famous Promthep Cape in the very south of Phuket.
Rim Talay Restaurant at Amari Phuket
Also near the sea, Rim Talay is where you will most probably enjoy a superb buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In front of Rim Talay is a large outdoor sitting area with an open bar where having a cocktail or two is a perfect treat.
Heeowhat Beach
Heeowhat Beach is quite large, with tall trees near Cape Panwa on the east coast of Phuket. It is home to the Pullman Panwa Phuket Resort, but because the beach is very wide and shallow, it is not a swimming beach, just great for walks in a peaceful atmosphere.
Makham Beach
Makham Beach is one of the island’s least-known beaches, hidden near Cape Panwa when driving from Phuket Town. The beach is lovely to walk on, but the sea is not as blue as other tourist beaches on the East Coast.
Siam Beach – A Tiny Cove on Phuket’s West Coast
Siam Beach on the west coast of Phuket is so small and hard to reach via stairs that it is not worth going there; we list it here because it is considered a beach, good for snorkelling.
5 Best Hotels in Ya Nui Beach
Ya Nui Beach is small but very popular for its unique feel of tucked bay with coconut trees surrounded by green hills and islands in the front. While there are no hotels with direct beach access, there are a few nice hotels near by or at a short driving distance. You will be able to chose from cheal local bungalows to modern pool villas.
Yae Beach
Yae Beach is not fantastic, but we wanted to see it since it is hard to find. It’s on a cape between Patong and Kamala, and you won’t see much there, just a small hut selling drinks when it’s open.
Royros Restaurant
Royros is a lively local restaurant located along the roadside of Ya Nui Beach in Phuket. With its large outdoor seating area shaded by tall trees, it’s an excellent spot to enjoy a meal or a drink after activities like swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, or relaxing on the beautiful beach
Ya Nui Restaurant
There are two or three restaurants around, which also rent basic bungalows. One is called Ya Nui Restaurant, and it’s just across the street from the beach, set in the welcome shade of tall trees; it is a perfect place for lunch. They serve excellent Thai food at the right price, so don’t hesitate.
La Scala
We didn’t know what to expect as restaurants inside the hotel are always challenging and often lack culinary personality. But La Scala was a surprisingly great surprise, and the dinner was beyond expectation, the kind of experience you still talk about once back home.
Sunya Coffee Bar & Wine at Dinso Resort
This coffee bar serves coffee, tea, and pastries in the morning, and wine and cocktails in the evening. Most importantly, this is where you will enjoy a generous breakfast buffet every morning.
Kata Noi Beach Restaurants
The bay of Kata Noi Beach is not very big, but there are quite a few restaurants nearby. Some of the most scenic restaurants in Phuket are perched along the roadside that passes high above the bay, offering superb panoramic views and stunning sunsets, too. Kata Noi Beach is also home to a couple of fine dining venues.

Rivet & Rebar
Rivet & Rebar at The Slate Phuket near the beach is an open-fired grill and smokehouse with dramatic, industrial-chic interiors, a great place to enjoy steaks and after-dinner drinks. The restaurant is all wood and leather, creating a dark and intimate atmosphere.
Tin Mine Restaurant
Tin Mine, the main restaurant, is where you will have your breakfast. It’s vast and open-air, surrounded by greenery like almost everything in the resort. The breakfast buffet is impressive and excellent.
Kata Rocks Clubhouse
Kata Rocks has only one restaurant serving Mediterranean and seafood cuisine, but with rooms so well designed for in-house dining, you won’t need more.
The Deck Beach Club at Four Points by Sheraton Phuket
The Deck Beach Club at Four Points by Sheraton Phuket in Patong Beach is an infinity pool with an immense terrace and a bar at the front of the hotel. It’s not on the beach but across the road, and a wall of trees kind of blocks the view of the sea, but it’s the best spot to enjoy a sunset with a cocktail and a view of the beach and the sea just across the street.
The Harbor Restaurant
The Harbor Restaurant at The Shore at Katathani Resort on Kata Noi Beach was a lot better than most hotel restaurants we had previously tried.
Laimai Courtyard at Baan Laimai
Laimai Courtyard is the restaurant at the front of Baan Laimai in Patong Beach. It is a relaxing area between the pool and the beach road where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Twilight Sky at The Sis Kata
Twilight Sky is a vast, breezy poolside restaurant on top of The Sis Kata in Kata Beach, where guests can enjoy all their meals and drinks with a panoramic view on one side and a vast pool on the other.
Baba Soul Food at Sri Panw
Baba Soul Food is one of the Thai restaurants at Sri Panwa, tucked into the hillside of Cape Panwa. It’s a quiet spot with a few tables indoors and more on the terrace, all looking out toward the sea.
Baba Hot Box at Sri Panwa
We were pleasantly surprised when we went to Baba Hot Box BBQ and Steak House at Sri Panwa in the south of Phuket Island. The quality of the meat, the sophisticated equipment used to cook and smoke it to perfection (a Spanish Josper BBQ) and, most importantly, the chef’s skills made this evening a treat.
Baba IKI
We started with Baba Iki, Japanese, which served a beautifully presented and fresh choice of sashimi. The restaurant mostly consists of a single massive table designed to create a casual party atmosphere, which is a little surprising initially. The views of the ocean through the floor-to-ceiling glass walls are superb.
Sunshine View Restaurant
Sunshine View Restaurant is perched on the roadside hill that leads to Paradise Beach, just past Tri Trang Beach, near Patong. The restaurant serves Indian, Thai, European, and seafood dishes (including huge prawns and Phuket lobsters) at reasonable prices
Pitbull Bar
Pitbull Bar is a hidden bar and restaurant located next to Tri Trang Beach. Since it’s the first in the group at the bottom of the hill and its entrance is somewhat hidden under a tree, it’s easy to miss.
The Cozy Cafe
The Cozy Cafe is one of the few restaurants built on the hillside overlooking the south of Tri Trang Beach. The restaurant is built on the roadside and has several terraces for guests to enjoy food or drinks
Jouet D’Art Cafe

The Hole Bar
The Hole is a big bar in the centre of OTOP Market Patong. It has all you need for fun, and the staff is ready to serve ice-cold drinks. Open daily from 10:30 am, enjoy colder beer during Happy Hour from 2 pm to 6 pm. They offer beer buckets, draft Guinness & Magners, pool tables, beer pong, foosball & darts, and live sports upon request. Find the main entrance opposite the Hard Rock Cafe.
Brasserie C’est la Vie
Brasserie C’est la Vie, located at BYD Loft in the heart of Patong, Phuket, offers a blend of traditional Thai flavours and classic French cuisine including seafood and meats.
Shore Diving in Kata Beach
The Kata Beach shore diving on the south side of Kata Beach is popular with local diving schools for training as it’s an easy entry and a short swim to the reef

Wat Mai Khao – วัดไม้ขาว
The Mai Khao Temple is less known but worth a photo (Wat Mai Khao). The temple itself is tucked away from the road. It doesn’t have any particular architectural interest, but it hides a little treasure: a small bird sanctuary hidden in the park behind it
Samnaksong Charoentham Kamala
Wat Baan Kamala is a modest temple near the entrance of town. It is quite modest, but the long lines of small golden Buddhas are worth a photo and a glimpse of real Thai life. Remember that this is a religious site so don’t wear too short clothes.

A dinner at Hom Restaurant at Intercontinental Phuket Resort in Kamala Beach is an experience we’ll remember for a long time. The Intercontinental name already promises luxury, and from the moment we stepped into the hotel, we could tell this place was something special.
Quan Spa at Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa
Another Quan Spa, this one at the Renaissance on Mai Khao Beach. Same water-theme concept as the Marriott location. Couples treatments available. Quiet area, far from the crowds. Long drive from Patong (45+ minutes) but worth it if you want the setting.
THE SPA at JW Marriott Phuket
Award-winning spa at the JW Marriott on Mai Khao. One of the larger hotel spas in Phuket. Full menu of treatments. Professional therapists. Expensive, expect 4,000+ Baht, but the facilities justify the price. Non-guests can book but hotel guests get preference.
Gym Club Phuket
Gym Club Phuket is a bright, spacious 500+ sqm gym located near Laguna Phuket; a gym for everyone regardless of fitness level. The gym features cardio, free weights, a machine weights zone, a choice of daily group classes, and a functional training area.
Wat Suwan Kirikhet (Karon Temple)

Wat Sawang Arom
Wat Sawang Arom is a temple of the Mahanikaya sect located in Rawai, south of Phuket Phuket Island. Established in 1942 by Phra Bunrod Thammakamo, the temple covers an area of approximately 9,636 square meters.
Wat Cherngtalay
Wat Cherngtalay, historically known as Wat Tin Le, is an ancient and revered temple located in Phuket Province. It has served as a spiritual centre for the people of Cherngtalay for generations. One of its most notable figures, Luang Por Plod, served as abbot from 1852 to 1886.
Wat Suwan Khiri Wong (Patong Temple)
Wat Suwannakhiriwong is a Mahanikaya sect temple located in Patong. Spanning 17 rai, the temple is bordered by Phra Barami Road, a canal, and the foot of a mountain, with villagers’ houses nearby. The current abbot is Phra Khru Pothipanyakan. Established in 1769 and originally named Wat Pa Tong, the temple later became Wat Suwannakhiriwong.
Mixxmall Rawayana
Mixxmall Rawayana is a brand new and bright red mall located roughly in the middle of Rawai Beachfront Road. So far we have seen a large Starbucks, a huge Tops Supermarket, a Rip Curl shop and the most attractive is The Roof, which mostly has an attractive sitting area by the beachfront, across the street.
Wat Nai Harn – Wat Nai Harn (วัดในหานภูเก็ต)
Wat Nai Harn is a local Buddhist temple situated just a short distance from Nai Harn Beach. The temple complex features a main ordination hall, a sermon hall, monks’ residences, and a pagoda-style structure adorned with intricate golden sculptures.
JW Cafe
JW Cafe is where you will enjoy a copious breakfast with a huge choice at the buffet! It would be hard to describe how many dishes are on display, but you sure will find plenty of Western and Asian dishes for an extravagant start to your day.
Cucina Italian Cuisine
Cucina at JW Marriott Phuket was another great experience the next day, great menu and really good taste. The wine list is also excellent with reasonably priced wine by the glass, served at the right temperature.
Andaman Grill
Andaman Grill was our choice for the first night and was without a doubt the best decision. JW Marriott Phuket Resort feature a lot of restaurants (too many to try them all on a single weekend), but enjoying fresh seafood and Thai food in an open-air restaurant near the sea is hard to beat! The place is beautiful and spacious, the food excellent, and the team attentive and friendly. It was a treat (we paid for our stay, in case you wondered.
