A restaurant and coffee shop near Wat Chalong
We Cafe Chaofa is a large restaurant that serves a vast array of international, western and Thai dishes at a very good price, located not far from Wat Chalong. We Cafe has been around for many years and has grown to three restaurants around Phuket and one in Bangkok. We tried a couple of them, but the one on Chao Fa Road is the most popular. We drove by many times in the past on the way to Chalong, and the parking is full every day of the week, so we had to stop and try it for ourselves.
This branch of We Cafe restaurant is even bigger than we anticipated and is nicely decorated with lots of wood and plants to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It caters to groups and families more than to romantic tete a tete dinners. A vast terrace is at the front, overlooking a garden where the restaurant grows herbs and hydroponic salads. The indoor dining room is immense, with large counters that remind of food courts.
We sat outside as it looked a little more intimate than inside, and ceiling fans provided enough cool air. The menu spreads across many illustrated pages, making it easy for anyone to find dishes that trigger their appetite. The service is fast and well organized, and someone is always on stand-by nearby to take your orders.
What we ordered
We Cafe serves an impressive list of dishes: soups, pizzas, burgers, salads, steaks, fish, pasta, and of course, plenty of sweets and desserts. There is, of course, a good choice of Thai food.
We went for western food as it seems to be the right place for those days you want to take a break from Thai food. We started with tomato soup (115 baht), an excellent smoked duck with mango salad (250 baht) and an Australian ribeye steak at 525 baht as the main. The steak was a bit overcooked, but overall the food was good and at a good price. In summary, We Cafe is a good value-for-money restaurant for a western lunch or a dinner, especially for groups.
