VIVA Rooftop and Restaurant is an Italian restaurant on the 7th floor of HOMA Phuket Town, a modern residential building in the Ratsada area. It’s run by Italian restaurateurs with over 50 years of experience in Italy and Thailand. The restaurant has both a large indoor dining room and outdoor tables by the rooftop pool, with views over Phuket Town.
What to Expect
VIVA is one of those places you don’t expect to find in this part of town. HOMA is a serviced apartment building on Soi Samkong 1, not exactly a tourist area, so most visitors are staying at HOMA or heard about it through word of mouth. Take the lift to the 7th floor, and you walk into a proper restaurant with a spacious air-conditioned indoor area. Step outside and there’s the pool area with tables where you can eat with city views.
The kitchen makes everything from scratch. Homemade tagliatelle, ravioli, lasagna, and pizza from a wood-fired oven. They also do meat and fish mains, a few Thai dishes, and weekly specials that change regularly. Before your food arrives, they bring out breadsticks with different sauces, which is a nice touch.
A set lunch goes for around 350 Baht (served 11 am to 2:30 pm), and pasta dishes start around 280 Baht. For a full dinner with cocktails and wine, expect to spend around 1,000 to 1,500 Baht per person. It’s more than street food prices, obviously, but very reasonable for what you get.
Good to Know
VIVA has live music on Fridays (some sources say Fridays and Saturdays, so check their Facebook page to be sure). There’s a happy hour, though the exact times seem to change, so ask when you arrive.
One thing that makes VIVA different from most rooftop restaurants in Phuket: there’s a children’s playroom right by the entrance. It’s genuinely family-friendly, not just “we have a high chair” friendly. Families with kids can eat by the pool while the little ones play nearby.
