Nai Yang Beach
Nai Yang Beach is a long, quiet beach on Phuket’s northwest coast, just a few minutes south of the airport. The beach curves gently for about a kilometre, backed by a thick line of casuarina trees that provide shade along most of its length.
Nai Yang is part of the Sirinath National Park, which keeps the area relatively undeveloped. There are no big resorts directly on the sand, just a few small hotels and guesthouses set back from the beach. Local restaurants along the tree line serve Thai food at local prices, and the atmosphere is far more relaxed than the beaches further south.
Swimming is easy during the high season, with calm, shallow water close to shore. The southern end of the beach has some coral formations that make for decent snorkelling. Nai Yang is also one of the few beaches in Phuket where you can see planes coming in to land very close overhead, which has made it a popular spot for plane-spotting photos.
It is a good choice for travellers staying near the airport or anyone looking for a quiet local beach. For the full guide, see Nai Yang Beach.
