Duty Free Shopping in Chalong
King Power Phuket is a large duty-free shopping complex on the main road between Phuket Town and Chalong, not far from Central Phuket. The building is hard to miss, with striking metal whale-shaped water fountains at the entrance. Inside, the complex is surprisingly spacious, with high ceilings and a modern, clean layout similar to a shopping mall. It operates as a duty-free store, so a passport and flight details are required to make a purchase, and items are collected at Phuket International Airport upon departure.

What brands can you find at King Power Phuket?

All the famous upmarket names are here: Chanel, Estée Lauder, MAC, Kiehl’s, Omega, Longines and more. The focus is clearly on luxury watches and prestige cosmetics, with some mid-range fashion brands as well.

When I visited, the place was remarkably quiet. That seems to match what many visitors report. King Power Phuket was clearly designed with tour groups in mind, and most of the foot traffic comes from organised coach tours rather than independent travellers.

Reviews are genuinely divided on the value. Visitors who spent big on luxury watches report significant savings, while others found cosmetics and mid-range fashion no cheaper than what they’d pay at home or at the airport. Unless you’re targeting a specific high-end item, the prices won’t blow you away.

Beyond the shopping, there is a food court and a Thai Pavilion section selling local snacks and souvenirs, which several visitors consider the best part of the experience.
King Power Phuket is not a must-visit, but if the whale fountains catch your eye as they caught mine, it’s worth a quick look inside.
