Phuket Island Video
Phuket is Thailand’s largest island, located in the Andaman Sea on the country’s southwest coast. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge and is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Southeast Asia. With more than 30 beaches, hundreds of hotels, and a wide range of activities, Phuket has something for almost every type of traveller.
The West Coast is where most of the tourism happens. Beaches like Patong, Kata, Karon, and Bang Tao line the shore, each with its own character. The East Coast is quieter and faces the mainland, with mangroves, piers, and local fishing villages.
Phuket Town on the east side is the historic centre, full of old Sino-Portuguese architecture, local food, and street art. Inland, the hills are covered in rubber plantations and tropical forest.
Day trips to Phi Phi Island, Phang Nga Bay, and the smaller islands nearby are easy to arrange from several piers around the island. For a complete overview of what to see and do, start with Things to Do in Phuket.
