Thai Restaurant on Rawai Beach
Baan Rimlay is a modest local restaurant just a few steps from Rawai Pier. It’s not directly on the beach, but built right over the water, offering a relaxing view of the sea and the nearby islands. What makes it even more enjoyable is the row of massive trees that provide plenty of shade, especially welcome on hot, sunny days.
I often stop here while out photographing the southern part of Phuket. It’s one of the last peaceful spots in the area, even when nearby restaurants are packed. The wooden tables are spread under the trees, and there’s usually a light sea breeze.

The kitchen is huge and has a local style, and the food has always been consistent. I usually go for the tom yam goong or something stir-fried with seafood—simple, flavourful, and never overdone. The staff is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is unpretentious.
If you’re in Rawai and want something quiet with a nice view and reliable Thai food, Baan Rimlay is worth keeping in mind.
